ADMISSIONS

Individuals planning to attend a course or program must be 21 years or older on or before the first day of class. Attendees of a wine class or event, whether private or open to public, must be 21 years or older.

All participants must provide valid proof of age: driver’s license, passport, or official government identification card.

REGISTRATION & PAYMENT

To be fully registered in a class, program or event, participants must complete the registration form in full and submit full payment for the course, class or event using one of the approved payment methods. Once registration and payment have been received and processed, confirmation will be sent to the participant. Confirmation of participation in the course, class or event will not be made until the registration form and payment have been received and processed.

CANCELLATIONS

Certification Courses

Wine Scholar Guild certification courses are non-cancellable and non-refundable.

Certification Exams

A registered student who takes the final exam but does not pass and wishes to re-sit OR does not take the scheduled final exam but wishes to reschedule the exam for a later date, may do so for a Rescheduled Exam fee of $275.00. (Note: The rescheduled exam date must be acceptable to student and Instructor and must take place within 1 year of the student’s registration for the course.)

Classes & Events

Cancellations of a Class or Event made in advance of at least one month from the date of the event/class will be refunded in full, minus a 5% processing fee.

Cancellations made within three to four weeks of the event or class will be refunded in full, minus a 10% processing fee.

Cancellations made within two to three weeks of the event date will be refunded in full minus a 25% processing fee.

Cancellations made within one week of the event date will be refunded in full minus a 50% processing fee. Once a course has begun or a class/event has taken place, no refunds will be made.

Note: The closer we get to the date of a class/event, the more negative the impact of a cancellation for NYWS, as we have obtained wine and scheduled staff based on the number of enrolled participants. If the event has been sold-out, we may even have turned away other potential participants. However, we do understand that unforeseen things — illness, accident, etc. — happen. In the case of such a situation, with verifiable proof of the inability to attend, we will do our best to find an appropriate resolution for all concerned.

CODE OF CONDUCT AND COMMITMENT TO DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION

New York Wine School is committed to creating and maintaining a professional environment of mutual respect, diversity, and inclusion among all participating individuals — students, teachers, assistants, adjunct employees, etc. — regardless of sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, age, gender, gender identity or expression, disability, physical appearance, and/or religious affiliation.

Harassment, rudeness, disrespect, and/or disruptive behavior is not acceptable and will not be tolerated. Any individual who does not abide by NYWS’s Code of Conduct may be asked to leave a class or event or withdraw from a program without compensation.

DISABILITIES AND SPECIAL NEEDS

Should any prospective student have any disabilities — physical, cognitive, psychological, etc. — or special needs, please let us know. New York Wine School is committed to inclusion for all and will do everything possible to accomodate.

MISSED CLASSES, MISSED EXAMS OR RESITTING EXAMS [CERTIFICATION PROGRAMS]

Each class of a certification course contains a significant amount of information as well as the opportunity to taste many of the key wines of a given region. If a registered student misses a class, they should do everything possible to familiarize themselves with the missed material: carefully review the relative content in the study manual, review the distributed PDF slides of the PowerPoint presentation, make an effort to taste key wines of the missed regions.
